The most appreciated and mindblowing fingerstyle releases of March 2024
We will give the ranking of the 9 most appreciated mindblowing releases. We chose 9 songs release because we judged them to be on a whole different level than the competition. However, this month was particularly filled with talents, so the choice was tough, but we didn’t wanted to extend to more than 9 songs. Just a quick honorable mention to the live of Elias Tonne and Ali Ghamsari who played Angel and Demon in a way that blew my mind. You can find it in the highlights.
Enjoy !
At 9th place, from the guitar collab category, we have :
Tripliciti, Momento Vivere
The trio (Andy McKee, Trevor Gordon Hall, and Calum Graham) is delivering a performance, where each member knows exactly when, and how loud to play. No one here tries to be incredible on his own, they are making a song TOGETHER.
At 8th place, from the boat cruise category, we have :
Thomas Zwijsen (feat Wiki Violin), Scorpions – Send me an angel
Violin and classical guitar in an angelic harmony. That’s beautiful. The talent is floating on this boat.
At 7th place, from the singing fingerstyle category, we have :
Dustin Furlow, Serene
It is what it is, a pleasure to hear fingerstyle artists sing ! And Dustin has a great voice, beside being an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist. I hope that we will see more and more of this singing and fingerstyle association in the future. Congratulations Dustin !
At 6th place, from the bass category, we have :
Charles Berthoud, Frank Sinatra – My Way
The decades of experience and the immense talent of Charles led to this bass version being fully clean of My Way. A lot of tapping is used here, don’t expect to meet an explosive slap version. For those who don’t know, the instrumental part of My Way comes from the song of Claude François, “Comme d’habitude”.
At 5th place, from the classical songs adapted for fingerstyle category, we have
Trevor Gordon, Debussy – Clair de Lune
This is excellent. Unlike what we’re use to hear in the fingerstyle world. Trevor pushes the exploration of the association of Kalimbatar and guitar in fingerstyle. Prepare for relaxation.
At 4th place, from spider / fingerstyle creation category, we have
Jin San Kim, Spider
Spider capo, Spider, spider agility, …Spider guitarist ? Technically very strong, no wrong notes, original insane creation. And mastered the use of the spider capo. A lot of interesting riffs and techniques that are valuable.
For the bronze medal, from the harp + guitar category we have :
Alexandr Misko and Boldachev, Cranberries – Zombie
What an insane collaboration. A condensate of virtuosity, harmonized between the Frankestein guitar of Alexandr and the harp of Boldachev. The song was covered in memory of Alexei Navalny, who died recently in a Russian prison.
For the silver medal, from the melodic category, we have :
Thomas Zwijsen, Scorpions – Wind of Change
The best melodic piece of the month. It sounds insanely good ; I would listen to it over and over. It’s melodically perfect. Nothing more to say. Thomas dedication to music is beyond understanding. Last month placed third, this month placed second, and 2 times appearing there (thanks to Scorpions too). You need to realize how insane the performance is.
Finally, the gold medal from the beyond mortal category goes to :
Marcin, Bill Weithers – Ain’t No Sunshine
I don’t think I need many explanations here. Just watch. Marcin never disappoints. He’s just technically above everyone else.
